Is faith really necessary for salvation?
On another part of this site, we have listed some 26 statements by the Apostle Paul (26 “Proofs”) outlining the necessity of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as central to becoming a “true believer” and a child of God.
Here I want to list forty more “proofs” from the authors of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, Titus and Hebrews—all emphasizing the importance of faith in the Salvation process. I’m also including an important verse in the Old Testament book of Joel. (You may find other verses and I invite you to share them in your comments.)
Please consider the following – 40 more “Proofs”: (Emphasis added in the list of verses.)
Matthew 11:28-30 – “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (NKJV, Jesus)

John 1:6-8 – There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. (7) The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. (8) He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

(22) For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son, (23) that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. (24) Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. (NKJV, Jesus)

Peter’s Good News:

Author of Hebrews’ Good News:
Hebrews 4:2-3 – For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter My rest,” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. (NKJV)
Hebrews 5:9 – In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. (NLT)
Hebrews 6:11-12 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. (NASB)
Hebrews 6:18-20 – He has given us both His promise and His oath, two things we can completely count on, for it is impossible for God to tell a lie. Now all those who flee to him to save them can take new courage when they hear such assurances from God; now they can know without doubt he will give them the salvation he has promised them. This certain hope of being saved is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls, connecting us with God himself behind the sacred curtains of heaven, where Christ has gone ahead to plead for us from his position as our High Priest, with the honor and rank of Melchizedek. (TLB)

Isaiah 45:22a – Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! (NKJV)
Joel’s Good News:
Joel 2:32a – And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. (NKJV)
One more thing!
An apostate “Bible teacher,” Harold Camping (now deceased), insisted on telling his radio audience that no one can be certain of his or her salvation, but the Apostle John wrote: “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.” (I John 5:13, NKJV)
A caller (Open Forum) asks a question. Harold Camping replies, “Well, the fact is….” That is precisely why Camping was so dangerous – he mixed fact and fiction. He made stuff up as he went along. Someone will question God’s sense of fairness regarding “election,” and Harold would respond with, “God is so merciful. He gives the warm sun, friendships, a beautiful earth to enjoy….” In the next breath, he talks about the blessing of annihilation – leaving this sin-sick, miserable and ravaged existence.
I wonder which it is? You can’t have it both ways. The Fact Is…Harold Camping made up whatever it tood to support his arguments. And that’s a fact!
Always beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep’s clothing!
